This fall we will be switching to a new, updated version of Moodle. The new version of Moodle is on a brand-new server, which will become our primary Moodle server in late August.
This means that until late August, we will have two Moodle servers: the old server, where your previous courses' pages can be found, and the new server, where you can work on your F12 course pages.
The old server, which is still being used by the School for Social Work for their summer classes, will continue to reside at http://moodle.smith.edu until then. Your old courses will continue to reside on this server and will be accessible to you there.
The new server will host all Fall 2012 course pages. You can access the new server at http://newdle.smith.edu during the summer. At the end of the summer, the new server will move to moodle.smith.edu and the old server will be renamed.
Changes to Moodle
The new Moodle server is running a new and improved version of the Moodle software. This means there are some great new features for you to explore, including a new way of uploading files into Moodle, a new My Private Files area for each user, and a new Settings block (to replace the Administration block). To learn more, take a look at the documents in the "Need Help?" block on the left side of the new Moodle homepage, http://newdle.smith.edu.
In that same "Need Help?" block you'll find a Moodle Basics for Instructors document that will walk you through everything you need to know to set up your Moodle pages on the new server, http://newdle.smith.edu.
Copying Materials to the New Server
If you've requested that your materials be copied to your F12 course page(s), I have already done so for you. If you'd like to copy your materials yourself, I've posted instructions on how to do so in the "Need Help?" block on the left side of the new Moodle homepage, http://newdle.smith.edu.
Ongoing Improvements Throughout The Summer
I'll be continuing to make improvements to the new Moodle server throughout the summer. Check the News Forum on the homepage for updates!
If you have any questions as you explore the new Moodle server, please let me know! I'd be happy to help.
